Thumbs down Mass in between the pads

I have a question, Mira had a disgusting growth in between her pads in October, it grew very unevenly - almost tenticle like and was red and dark colored. We had it surgically removed and biopsied and it came back benign, possible viral. Now it has grown back. Does anyone have experience with this? I have some really bad pictures of it.

Never seen that before but hugs to Mira! I hope it's not painful at least!
Nico just lost a toe nail! What's with these puppers and their feet?

I've never seen anything like that. If it tested viral I wonder if an oral anti-viral agent would make any difference.

Thanks guys. I did some searching last night on the internet and it looks like a viral papilloma. I'm not sure if it's worth it to keep having the surgery to remove it if it's just going to keep growing back. Maybe she missed a piece? Anyway it's kind of like dog worts, and can be self limiting, but it really bothers her, she licks it raw. Either way another vet trip

Would you consider trying a form of Lotrimin Sand? That may help.

Never heard of it, is it a cream? I'm open to anything! I'll ask my vet for sure, thanks!

It's really big, it hangs off like a giant tenticle like mass - think of a really dry split extra pad, not sure if that could be frozen??? But I'll definetly ask. Thanks!

From the Merck Veterinary Manual-
http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/in...m/bc/72214.htm

"The second presentation is cutaneous papillomas, which are indistinguishable from the warts that develop on or around mucous membranes. However, they are more frequently solitary and develop on older dogs. Cocker Spaniels and Kerry Blue Terriers may be predisposed. A definitive viral etiology has not been established, and lesions may be confused with cutaneous tags. Recently, a syndrome characterized by papillomatosis of one or more footpads has been described. Clinically, lesions appear as multiple, raised keratin horns. A viral etiology has been suggested but not proven."

I would ask for a referral to a veterinary dermatologist or visit your nearest veterinary college.

Thank you so much! I actually got the pathology report faxed and it says exophytic papilloma - highly suspicious of viral orgin and then it talks about viral papillomas. It says that if they keep reacurring there may be an underlaying immune problem =(
