No Dane Rescues in Alberta!!!!

So I have as you all know decided that my next dog is going to be a Dane resuce....but there are no places in Alberta, Canada that rescue Danes!!!

This resuce will not happen anytime soon, as I will not get anouther dog till Hudson has crossed over the rainbow bridge...it would be too much for him to deal with and I dont want to put him thru any undo stress.

BUT

I am not too sure where to look now...I really have my heart set on a Dane...but I guess I could really resuce anything that needs a home...but really want a Dane.

Any suggestions?

I would find the closest Dane Rescue and form a relationship with them. Start to network. When the time comes, maybe you could arrange a trip or an underground railroad. Here's a link with good info.

Great Dane Rescue Inc adopts in the US and Canada, they have several volunteers in Canada. Not sure exactly what area of Canada they are in, and where you are at.

Check them out.

Also check the all breed rescues too!!! In the rescue I used to run we had a Dane come through- and they seem to be very popular right now so I am sure we will be seeing more of them in rescue soon!!!

Petfinder.com is a great resource- you can search for a specific breed and limit the area of the search too.

Just a thought.

I already told you I'd adopt to you a Dane that fit with you, no problem!
I still have the male and female here looking for them the very best homes. Not due to lack of applicants they're still here, just not the "right" applicants for them yet is all.

Transports not a problem either except you obviously need to meet prior to a commitment.

Instead of looking for Dane rescues, try just putting in Great Dane in dog breed in petfinder to see what comes up?

Contact Gwen Boers at Birch Haven (BHRR)....she's in Canada somewhere, and she knows everyone. She'll be able to get you a dane when you're ready.

I think I have her contact info, or you can google it I'm sure and find it.
