sick dog - any ideas?

i have a 1/2 shitzu and 1/2 toy poodle who is 5 years old. Starting last thursday she wasn't her normal self. She was very lethargic, wouldn't eat or drink anything until Sunday. She was hiding in the closet (which she never does) and yelps any time someone tries to pick her up. I took her to the vet on Monday and he did a complete blood workup on her and gave her some antibotics and pain shot. After the pain shot kicked in she was running around like crazy jumping and her normal self...however, with in 2 hours she was back to being very lethargic, eating very little and not drinking. The vet said the blood work came back fine. Beccause she still isn't acting right or drinking I took her back to the vet today and he took xrays. He said there were no signs of fractures of anykind. She just seems to be in some sort of pain. Any ideas?!

The yelping and hiding is usually a pain reflex. I'm surprised that the first thing your vet did was take blood. It seems like it would be muscle/nerve related. To me this sounds like a back injury or some sort of abdominal pain like a blockage. Has she been pooping normally?

Keep her on the ground (don't pick her up) and try to keep her calm & quiet. That's all I've got, sorry!

But small dogs dehydrate fast! Try to get her to drink water, broth, or pedialyte (NOT gatorade).

pancreas should show up in blood work, you'd think?? I would think.

also for sure in stools and i believe also vomitting.
does sound like back or some kind of injury, or pain inside like vital organ. vital organ functions should all show up in bloodwork i would think and if the pain med got her moving again, it's likely musculo-skeletal of some kind.

update:

she has been on the steroids for 3 days and has started to eat adn drink again and is slowly becoming her old self. The vet thought she probably strained her back muscles by jumping. Thanks for all of your help and suggestions!

Something's definately not right. I'd get a second opinion.
