Baby Asprin

Well as you know, Roxy got spayed today as some of you will remember from my previous thread regarding this. I opted not to get the pain meds but the vet said if I feel she needs pain meds just to try baby asprin.

How much should I be giving her/how often? Half of one every 12 hours or something? I've never given baby Asprin so forgive me .

Her pain meds she got before she left will last 25 hours so we're good for now .

I also think she just came into heat this morning. There was a dirty spot on the seat and i thought it was just mud and wiped it off but when i picked her up and brought her home i noticed when she got up she left a little spot on her bed and checked and it definitely wasnt coming from her incision. So I guess last month when I thought she was, she actually wasn't. I'm just glad nothing went wrong during her surgery because of it.

Your dog couldn't be in heat.. she was just spayed. That's physically impossible. And if she was in heat DURING the procedure, most definitely they would have told you.

I would make mention of this to the vet.. if you haven't already.

As for aspirin.. how much does she weight? The average dose is 5mg per pound. So if she weighs about 35 lbs, that would be 175mg. Which is pretty close to a half of a 325mg BUFFERED Aspirin.

If you are going to give Aspirin at all, i would be giving Buffered Aspirin.

You can give it as often as twice daily, every 12 hours. And I would only be giving as needed like Moo said.
