Can I use Terramycin on a puppy eye?

Hello,
I am a regular user on the horse forum I just came up with a dog problem and was looking for some help and realized we have a dog forum too My daugher is registered on here, so I thought I'd try you guys and see if you can help.
Background info:
On Thursday, we took in a momma lab with 9 appr 2 weeks old pups. We are fostering them and took them in quickly so I unfortunately didn't get a good look at the pups before we put them in the kennel. I didn't want to disturb mom too much, so I haven't really messed with the pups till tonight. Anyway, I picked up one of the pups and it's eye looks funny. It has a bit of matting around it, but what has me concerned is that even though the other eye is completely open, the left eye is only partially open and I can't really see the eyeball itself. I tried to examine it the best I could and think I see a small tear or something on the eyeball itself I have some terramycin that I use on my horses, but I'm wondering if I can use it on this pup till I can take it to the vet Monday. I'm a bit concerned about leaving this any longer than I have to, but I need some advice since I have never had this happen before.

We built them a large kennel at our horse property and I go out twice a day to let mom out to run and piddle since she won't go inside the kennel. I plan on taking warm water and a cloth tomorrow morning to try to get the goop out and medicating it if I can use the Terramycin. Does this sound like the right thing to do? Or should I use something else? Any help would be appreciated Thank you!!

Beth

If your going to the vet on monday, the most you should do is maybe a washcloth and warm water. Terramycin is safe for use in dogs eyes but it could interfere with any testing or any stains the vet may use on the pup. Good luck to you, I hope everything is okay!
