Cavoodles changeing Attitude

I have been trying to get into or onto some form of dog forum/chat for two and a half hours, i really need some help for my cavoodle and was wondering if anyone had any ideas. Millie is 18 months old and for the first 14 months was a happy beautifully tempered dog, so loving and fun. The last few months she has become snappy, growly, bad tempered, guards her lead savagely, and sulky, like her whole world is coming to an end. We introduced a male spoodle about 8 months ago, and she took to him straight away, so i'm at my wits end and my friend sugest i ask a forum, so if anyone has any advice, it would be much appreciated. Thanks

Vet Vet Vet... First thing to do when an animal has a sharp change in personality is take them to a vet.

Also, you don't mention whether she is fixed. There is a reason why reproducing females are bitchs. Changes in body chemistry due to heat is possible. Spaying her may help if that is the case.

Also she is a teenager. This is the time 12-24 months when most dogs go thru their teenage repellion. How you handle it will determine if she gets better or worse. Now would be the time to re-establish who is the boss and who isn't. Nothing in life for free is a great tool to do this in a humane passive manner.

She eats after you and only if she sits nicely. She goes thru doors only after having been given a release command.

Cavoodles Attitude Change

Hi Dax,

Just wanted to say a big thanx. She has been fixed, i did it as soon as she was old enough. I didn't think about "teenage years". She's done her first three levels of obedience, but after reading what you had to say, i had a good look at how i enforce her commands, and i could do allot better. Ive decided to also book her into a vet just for a check up. Thanks again, much appreciate your feedback, it has made me think about issues i hadn't looked into.
