A STUDENT who bashed a puppy and broke one of its legs in a fit of rage was fined $5000 and banned from owning a pet for 10 years.
It is the first case in Australia of a pet owner being banned from owning an animal for 10 years.
The RSPCA said the attack, which left veterinarians with no choice but to amputate the dog's right hind leg, was "disgusting", according to the Herald Sun.
The Melbourne man, 21, pleaded guilty yesterday in Melbourne Magistrates' Court to attacking the 15-week-old Siberian husky after it defecated inside his CBD apartment on June 21, 2008.

The attack on the puppy was so violent the dog's right hind leg snapped in two places.

RSPCA inspectorate services manager Greg Boland said the dog had cowered under the bed but the owner had reached in and pulled the puppy out by its rear right leg.

"He chastised the puppy by hitting it a number of times, and throwing it around the room" Mr Boland said.
"He took it out the balcony and left it there, and went back to playing computer games."

The owner's housemates returned home later that afternoon to find the dog lying in pain in its own faeces.
It wasn't taken to a vet for another seven hours.



This is disgusting and the punishment is just not good enough!

Poor puppy!!!! I hope on top of all that (which still isn't enough) he had to pay all the vet bills too. What dumb humans
