Hey Guys
![]() I have a Maltese Terror who is about 11 [roughly] and last night i seen abit of vomit which im guessing was from chucky as i also have a rotti. He seemes fine last night he was running around etc but this morning he looked very confused he was walking around like he was on drugs and he rested his chin on the bowl of water for about 1min. Im not sure if this is another reason but i clipped him last night gave him a trim and my dad reckons i cut off his whiskers, but ive been cutting chucky for years and i never seen this happen. My dad just gave me an update and apprantly his walking around and sleeping walking around and resting. When my dad calls his name he is still alertive and comes to him. I asked my dad to give him abit of ham to see if he will eat it but he just turned his head away. But i suppose walking around is a good sign isnt it? How do i know when its serious? ![]() Look forward to hearing for you. Regards, Nici |

He may just have a bug. It wouldn't be from cutting the whiskers, dogs don't use them. Whiskers are just more hair to dogs. I would give him a day, make sure he's hydrated, and if he isn't feeling better tomorrow, call the vet.

I would just give him some rest, continue to feed him normally, give him plenty of water, and jsut let it pass. Maybe he found something outside, ate it, and it is bothering him a bit. If it continues for more than a couple days, I would contact the vet. Is there any diarhea?

Not that i have seen i have only seen him like this first time this morning. I suppose theres a good chance its linked to the vomit i found last night. I have seen any diarehea on his back side as i checked this morning. He tried drinking water this morning but seemed like he couldnt be bothered drinking it he just rested his chin on it. Apprantly my dad said he was walking faster then he did this morning. We feed him canned food but we have been since he was a pup. I told me dad just to make him some pasta with vegies. Apprantly he ate his food really fast last night, could that be a reason?

I doubt it. I personally think he should go to the vet as soon as possble. This may be rather seriouse.... I hope all will go well.
What brand of food are you feeding? |

D3, keep a close eye on the dog for the next 24 hours. If the dog doesn't eat and poop well or shows signs of distress (pain, fever, etc), then go to your vet immediately. Even older dogs can have 'off' days but they should not go on more than 24 -48 hours before it is looked at by a vet.

Hey Guys
![]() Just thought ill let you know that chucky has made 100% recovery. He started getting better yesterday he ate food and drank water. This morning he was running around like nothing happened. I knew it was something he ate maybe a fly, bug or just a bad batch of food. It broke my heart seeing him like that since they cant talk to tell me whats wrong. Those 2 days i was calling my dad and partner every 30min to check on his progress and when they told me he was eating i wanted to cry it made me so happy to see him recover. If he didnt improve by today i would have taken him to the vet. My work perfromance went down hill in those 2 days it really effected me.Old dogs really scare me. He is nearlly 11 although he still runs around, barks etc so his still going strong and hopefully he will stick around for a while longer. |
