Puppies

Willie's bother's wife try to tell me that the little baby pup that they got had heartworns and it was borned with them. I told her that there was no way that the pup was borned with heartworns. She told me that everytime the pup would poop there would be worms. And i told her she needed to deworm the pup and it wasn't heartworms. I told her the only way that they can get heartworms was from mosquitos biting them.

I told her she needs to take a puppy & dog clsses on the heath . Some people just think that they know everything. It is like talking to the wall when talking to her. She don't know anything about animals.

She's half right, the puppy could have been born with microfilarieae, but not adult heartworms.

"Puppies, even when they are still nursing, do not have any immunity to heartworm. In fact, the microfilariae may even pass through mother’s milk to the puppy. Remember, however, that microfilariae cannot develop into adult worms without first living in a mosquito, so they do not cause problems in puppies. They will be killed when a preventative medication is given. Young dogs can be started on heartworm prevention as early as four to eight weeks old. Check with your vet to see when she recommends beginning treatment."

She has never had this pup to the vet. When she saw it was passing worms she was telling everyone that it was heart worms. I told her that they will not pass heart worms not unless they have been treated for them. And it was some other kind of worm like tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms or whipworms. I told her that i had some dewormer and i would bring it to her and give it to him. She told me she didn't have the money to take him to the vet and i told her that i would take him and paid for it. So i went over there to deworm him and she gave him away to someone. I asked her why did she give him away? She told me that she didn't want that little worm s......g pup. I told her that i said i would take him to the vet and get what every he needed even his shots.

You are right. At least he might have a chase to be took better care of. But she make me mad because she knows nothing about a animal and when you try to help learn her she don't want to hear anything you say.

I would be mad too. Why would she get a puppy in the first place if:

1) She could not afford the medical treatments, vet visits, or care of a puppy
2) If she had no idea on how to raise a puppy
3) if she was just going to pass it off onto someone else because she could not of been bothered with the helpless creature

I am also wondering who would of ever gave there puppy to this person? Must of been a BYB, because from what your telling me anyone in the right mind would not of left a helpless puppy in this persons care. Good for you for trying to help but some people are way to far gone to be helped. Sorry the puppy had to be re-homes hopefully his new home is his forever home

The only thing you can try to do is edumacte (lol) her...I just remember when I started on this forum I knew nothing about anything...and that is still the case, although I have learnt a whole bunch about dogs. I knew nothing about worms or fleas or mits or any of that bad stuff. You being the one with the knowledge needs to be the one to try and pass it on. If she is unwilling to learn, at least you know that you did your best to teach her...........then take the pup and run hard and fast far far away
