Do I even want to know how long Harley has to live?

Wow, I am so torn by this. Harley is having probs. The Doc didn't say and I didn't ask. Do I wanna know?

Absolutely not. I am not going to tear my heart shed by shred as the months , weeks, days and minutes tick by. You make the best of each and every day you can each and every day my friend and you let Harley live it to the fullest.

I have had two scares with Vanilla. She's almost 16. She doesn't know that she is old or ailing. Each and ever extra day I have with her is a blessing.

A friend of mine had an Airdale and when he was diognosed,(sp) the doc said 6 months. He was pretty much on the time. Of course Harley is having everything he needs and wants. (it's $3000.00 and still counting) But that's just the way it is.

I was kinda freakin yest cause he wasn't interested in eating dinner. I'm like, is this the start?

I told Mom, my radar is so set to everybody (the furkids) and everything! I mean I am home just about 24/7. I know what's going on with everybody. I constantly watch and look at him to make sure he's still breathing!

My friend, medicine is a science and science is an art. No one can say when anyone's actual time is. In February of 2008 the doctors gave my mother no more than two weeks. Eight months later she passed but was in no pain. Same with my grandmother. These specialists gave her 6 months and she actually had another 18 months. No one can be precise in these matters.

I do the same thing with Vanilla. I am constantly watching to make sure she is breathing while she is laying down. Harley doesn't want this type of on edge attitude from you. He wants his mommy that gives him hugs and kisses and has fun with him. The more stress you put on yourself the more your baby can feel it. Don't fill yourself and your household with stress if you can help it. Save the stress for when you really need it and even then you will find the strength.

I only do that when he is asleep and I am watching tv just chilled. I never do anything to cause him or any of the other kids stress but I do understand what you mean. But I do lay down with him and feel his heartbeat. I know some TTouch and the kids love it. I love feeling thier heartbeats. And I feel good knowing what to do to relax them! I mean everybody.

I am the one that's freakin out inside. I really do try to hold everything inside. Like a Peaceful easy Feeling.

And in the meantime Harley is probably saying "Don't fret mom I have a lot more years than you think I do!"

Awww Kimberly I am sorry Harley is feeling down.

I agree with Fairlight, don't think about his time. You have always given them the best, don't change anything. Enjoy each day with him.

The thing I hate most about dogs, isn't the chewing digging or eating nasty things, but the very short time we have to enjoy and love them in our long life span. Even though Maddy was 16 1/2 when she left, I still wish I could have had another 10!
I dread the day now, that Jinjo's time comes. I can't believe and sometimes refuse to, that he is already 8 1/2. And the sad part is lately the average death rate in Corgi's is between 10-12. That gives me about 2-4 more years. Some days I imagine maybe getting him dry freezed so I have him forever. Don't think I could ever have to guts to do that though.

I did research on Mel's illness and found most dogs his size live 3 to 6 months with cardiomyopathy, he lived more than a year. No one really knows, the best you can do is give him what he needs medically and all the love and attention he deserves
