another cat question, about rabies vac.

If cats are routinly eating mice and birds etc. should they get there rabies vac. every yr. or is it much like dogs, not really necessary???

In my state, it doesn't matter. Yearly is required by law.

In California you can have your cats vaccinated every three years (with the three-year vaccine)

I guess technically, it is yearly here, but no one ever checks the foster cats here cause they come and go.

In Colorado, you can vaccinate every 3 years for cats and dogs. The only recommended yearly vaccine is Feline Leukemia, and that is for outdoor cats only.

I think you should give your cat some anti rabies vaccination at least once every year.

mine dont get theirs done, but they dont even step a toe outside....they never want to either, I can leave the door open and they wont even look at the door to go outside. So I dont worry about it too much.

How are your two cats feelling? are they any better?

Pretty much back to normal , eating, sleeping, hunting but still tire more easily they are really making use of the term "cat nap"

Unless requried by law, cats (and dogs) do not need to be vaccinated yearly (or even every three years) for Rabies. The Rabies vaccine produces a much longer immunity than just a few years, sometimes for life.

It is not required by law in Ohio for a cat to have rabies vacc, so the indoor cats do not get them at all. My dogs get them every three years only because it is required by law. Outdoor cats get them only if I have the extra money to spare when taking them to the low cost spay/neuter clinics.
