Doxie's going back to the vet

I have been up with Doxie for the last 2 nights-last night I had a total meltdown. He is coughing almost non-stop now. When he's up during the day, he will cough & cough & cough and then have to sit down for a few minutes because it exhausts him, then do the same thing over and over. I don't think it's allergies-he doesn't have a snotty nose. It's a deep throaty cough. He's been on his pills for a week and they haven't helped so I am thinking it is his heart and I want him to thoroughly check it out. I'm not a vet but I'm thinking congestive heart failure. I would tell you what pills he's on but I can't read the vets writing-I just know he's on amoxocillen. Doesn't a heart problem cause coughing? I am calling the vet as soon as they open up and see if they can get him today.

Yes, sometimes it is a heart condition but Alibabba had chronic bronchitis which he developed in his later years. He would have coughing fits where he coughed constantly. I don't remember the name of the medicine but it was a cough syrup that tamed it a bit.

I'll be thinking of Doxie today, I hope he is feeling better soon.

I know what it's like to watch your animal, cough and cough and sneeze. My bunny is like that, except in his case it really sucks as when rabbits get 'flem' in their lungs, its there permantely. Like cottage cheese, they can cough, sneeze, it will never let go. At least a dog can remove the flem!

Your doing what you can, vet's advice is the best! Your watching him carefully so he has the best chance he can get.
