We have a dog she is 1 year old this month. She is inside and she is shedding CONSTANTLY! My husband is not an inside animal person but we talked him in to letting her stay in the house when we first brought her home last year. She began shedding TERRIBLY around October or November. I got her co enzyme tabs specifically for this and for a bit I saw a difference. I gave her a bath about 3 weeks and since then, she is SHEDDING uncontrollably! It is getting to the point where I want to put her outside and not let her in! HAIR is everywhere! We feed her Dog Chow and she gets clean water everyday. She is 1/2 black lab, 1/2 golden retriever. She is blonde. ANY HELP????? I brush her and she loads up the brush with one swipe! WHAT TO DO????

All I can suggest is regular professional bathing and grooming. With you brushing daily and full body groom weekly. What breed is she? If it's starting to get warm were you live it could be just the season. Here's another good tool for shedding...

Sounds like a normal malt process to me, you may have to put her outside till she finishes, can take up to a month, then your hair loss will be the same as before, I have to do this with my lab. Also, bathing loosens the hair from it's folicle and makes them shed more, so you can either bathe and speed up the process, or let it run it natural course.

WEll thank you both for the response. I went out to PetSmart yesterday and got the shedding blade and my front yard is WHITE!!!! It was coming out like a blizzard had hit us! I got it to settle down a little after about 30 minutes of using this new tool, but still has a lot to go! But her coat looks so much better and cleaner and shinnier and softer! Not bad for a lab/golden! I think if I do it for a week everday, I should notice a huge difference! I am keeping my fingers crossed! And my parents use to breed German Shepards and while talking to dad yesterday, he told me to put a raw egg in her food everyday for a little bit on top of her vits I am giving her and keep up the sheddig brush and I should notice a huge differenc pretty quickly. he said I was feeding her ok and giving her vits but maybe she needed a boost her for a few weeks! Thanx again!

If your Dad used to breed GSD's then he should know (as I'm sure he does) GSD"s are a breed that sheds 24/7..As well as the shedding blade, I use an air force blower (Metro) you can't use it inside or you'll be making a huge mess, but outside it works wonders on my dogs. It blows off anything not nailed down, dander, dirt as well as hair..You might want to think of investing one, I can't live without mine *vbg*

I used to have a lab/GR mix. He shed a LOT more than any of my GR's do. I have a lot of lab owners that say they shed 24/7 as well. That plus the combination of the long Golden hair makes it a shedding nightmare. A shedding blade is a great way to help this. You may see as much or more shedding for a couple of days afer doing this as the folicles get "stirred up".
I use a damp washcloth to "wipe" the hair off my furniture as well. They're not allowed on the furniture, but it still gets up there. |

I have a Austrailian Shepherd it seems like she never sheds! Is that a bad or good thing? Of corse she is a outside dog too.

momo I also have 2 Aussies, besides the 2 GSD's, and when I got into 'them', I thought with all that hair I was really going to have some shedding going on, but in all honesty they don't shed NEARLY as much or even half as much as the GSD's ..
