    Birthday Recipes

Sammy is going to be one year old on July 11 *happy dance!* I guess I'm a little too crazy about him, but I want to make him a doggy birthday cake. I'd love to give him a birthday party, take lots of pictures, and let him enjoy himself LOL. And of course, any picture I take will go right on the forum...duh...

My question is... Does anyone have any recipes for doggy desserts, cookies, or cakes? It can be as fancy as you want... trust me.... little sammy deserves it!

    Thanks

Dax's Ariel had a big birthday bash on her first birthday.

I bake dog pastries on doggy birthday, but not much more.
May want to scan this site for some recipes

I bought Ariel's cake from a doggie bakery. It was quite reasonable. Might want to see if there is one in your neighborhood.

    1/4 cup applesauce
    1/4 teaspoon vanilla
    4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup dried apple chips or fresh fruit
    1 table spoon baking powder
    1 egg
    4 tablespoons honey
preheat oven to 350 degrees mix wet all ingredients together thoroughly. combine dry ingredients in separate bowl add wet to dry slowly pour into miffin tins bake for 1 1/4 hours or until done.

    optional frosting
    2 cups mashed banana
    1 tblsp butter
    6 tsp vanilla
    3 tblsp unbleached flour
    1 tsp cinnamon

Blend thoroughly and spread on cool cake. (carob almost tastes like chocolate)

I have a bunch of recipes that I printed off and that I'm going to try when I go see my mom next. Sounds like fun huh?

Gourmet Dog Biscuits - Peanut Butter flavour:

These are made in a 1-1/2 to 2 pound Bread Machine.

    Ingredients:
    1 1/2 c water
    1/3 natural peanut butter, stirred
    2 Tbs dark corn syrup
    1 1/2 Tbs brown Sugar
    1 tsp salt
    2 c all-purpose flour
    3/4 c brown rice flour
    3/4 c brown rice flour
    1/3 c cornmeal
1/3 c soy granules or soy flakes
    2 1/2 Tbs brewer's yeast
2 tsp instant or rapid yeast

    Directions:
Place all ingredients in machine and set on dough cycle. Check consistency in 5-15 minutes; dough should be a firm, round ball. Add flour or liquid if necessary.
When cycle is over, roll dough out on a board lightly dusted with cornmeal. Dough should be about 1/4-inch thick. Cut out treats with a cookie cutter. Re-roll dough untill all is used. Place treats on a nonstick cookie sheet.
Bake in a preheated 325 degree (F) oven for 45-55 minutes. cool treats on a wire rack for 3-4 hours before storing in an airtight container.

And here is a recipe for

    Doggie Ice Cream

    Ingredients:
32 oz plain yogurt (or more as needed)
Carrots - either a 1 or 2 pound bag depending on how carroty you like your ice cream

    Directions:
Grate the carrots and mix in the yogurt. Adjust until it is a mixture you like. Freeze.

You can freeze in a container or ice cube trays. The ice cube trays are the perfect size for after a walk on a hot day and are much easier to dish out than if you freeze it in a big container.

    Preparation Time:15 minutes
