Black spot on tounge...

Thats basically the best way i could describe it. Ive only seen it a few times when Oscar yawns. I put my finger on it and it doesnt appear to hurt him or anything. Anyone have an idea of what it could be? Early tumor or something? The spot is flat so it doesnt stick out or anything.

It's a birthmark.

That is, assuming it's always been there. Not his tongue, but the roof of Kirby's mouth is all spotted pink and black... Matches his external skin, paws included.

Tongue spots on labs:

Now, trying to figure out if they are developed or are born with them.

My dog got those... they're harmless and dont'' really mean anything. Sammy didn't have them when he was born, just kinda appeared as he grew older, but they're pretty much like birthmarks... nothing to worry about.

My german shepherd growing up had one.. and i'm not positive if it was always there or not. It was on the back of his tongue. It's pretty normal...

Refer to Moo's link and tell us if that's what it looks like to make sure we are all on the same page. But I'm pretty sure there isn't anything to worry about.

Yea the link that Moo sent just about explained it all. The labs in those pictures had the spot on the exact same place where Oscar has his. Thanx!

Laddys tounge has tons of spots! My mom says he's part chow. Its not just his tounge that makes us think that though.

Either hes part chow lol or its just a mark. Cyrus my GSD has a spot, either from discoloration or a birth mark, it hasnt always been there, but nothing to worry about.
