what are good chew toys?

My bulldog eats his toys. I got hom a ropebone he tore it up and ate some of it which didn't agree w/ him so he threw up. He also has ate some of a rubber bone. I have been told that rawhide is bad for dogs, so any suggestions on what he could have?

I get big marrow bones from the grocery store or butcher. I've been getting sawed down the middle for my dogs so they get all the marrow out right away. In the summer I give the bones to them frozen.

Also, if you can get him interested in carrots or crunchy veggies which are safe for him to eat too.

Kongs are wonderful and can be filled with a variety of tastey treats and frozen too.

If he is a mega chewer like mine - I suggest cow hooves. They last for ages and have a very pungent aroma so keep their interest for ages.

Dax are the marrow bones something I can give him to chew on unsupervised? because he still chews on things alot and when he can't find one of his toys to chew on he goes to the kids toys, paper just almost anything he can find. Luckily its not shoes or furniture.

I would suggest giving your dog a Kong toy, and stuffing it with some treats. Sammy's a pretty heavy biter as well... he loves eating his and our toys, but he hasn't done anything to the kong. Still one, unharmed piece LOL. In addition to being great chew toys (if you lodge a big treat into the hole of the kong, they'll spend HOURS trying to get it out), Sammy loves it because he can play with it (they are bouncy!)

jack doesn't like the kong I put peanut butter in it and she licked if for a while but it'sl is in there. Its the only toy she still has since she was a puppy because she never plays it. It's good to have though I dump out all her toy and tell her to pick them up one by one and it easy for her to pick up.

Make sure they are raw and a big leg bone. Avoid neck, rib bones as they are too flimsy.

I give all the time unsupervised but make sure they are large enough that he won't be tempted to try and swallow whole.

I also give mine the bones from the butcher they last along time and they love them. Also I don't know about where you live but they are so cheap I can get a package of them for $.88. I usally need two packages and get about 8 large bones from them.

Also strong toys such as Activity Treat Balls are good for biters!
