Poor Rudy..
As soon as I got home from school my dad told me that Rudy had thrown up. I'm not sure why he threw up, but he did. Now, hours later, Rudy still isn't acting normal, he hasn't finished his food, and he has just been laying around, except for when he went outside while people were over. Fortunatly he hasn't thrown up resently, besides today, so I'm not that concerned, But.. there hasn't been any change in his diet, or his schedule, except that since the weather has been rainy he hasn't gone on his mile walk for 3 days(I walk him in the mornings and that was when it was rainy)..but he got to play fetch/catch when the weather was nicer later in the day...
It's hard watching him just sit around feel bad . Since he has no interest in his dry food right now, should I take it away and give it to him in the morning(hopefully by then his stomach will feel better), or just leave it out until he eats it?(the food question is because most of the other times he throws up is from eating too much, eating too fast, or getting something he shouldn't have.) Has he been sick to his stomach more then once? Are there any other symptoms being displayed right now? Could he have gotten into anything toxic? (Lawn fertilizer is a common poison in the spring....) Is he drinking water? Going to the bathroom normally?

How old is Rudy? Many puppies will eat too much - too fast then end up throwing it up. If you notice he is doing this I would split his rations and give smaller feedings more often. I would also mention it to your vet as it could be a sign of a metabolic disorder.
Since you mention he's a gulper - I would leave the food out. It doesn't sound like he needs an incentive (most of the time) to finish his dinner. Again watch for other symptoms such as fever, pain, etc that would indicate a problem. |

Well, he may just have caught a bug or something. Make sure he's drinking water, don't worry too much about food for now. If he isn't better in a day, call the vet.

CowGirlUp1833, besides Rudy throwing up yesterday, I don't think he has done it for awhile(over a month). He's been drinking his water, and when ever I ask him if he wants to go outside he'll go and pee on a tree or two, so no problem there. The only thing different right now is that he feels more like laying around, but I can understand that, when people get sick, they don't feel like doing much for a while afterwards.
Dax, Rudy isn't a puppy, he's heading on 7 years old(his b-day is in Sep.) Rudy gets his whole days worth of food in the morning, but he likes to wait until its night time, after he knows he isn't going to get people food. Moo, He drinks water, and I think he might have touched his food while I was at school, but some of his food from yesterday is still left. T |

How is Rudy feeling today? I know I worry when Poppy is ill but give him time and I'm sure he'll be OK. Like you say people don't feel like doing much when they are sick and dogs are the same. Just leave his food and water out and if he feels like it he can get some.

Rudy seems to be back to his normal tail-waggin butt-wigglin self. lol
I'm thinking he might have found something outside and eaten it, since we didn't feed him anything out of the ordinary. I'm just glad he's feeling like his normal self. T |
