Question Know Any Good Dog Rescue Groups?

Hi, guys! My name is Chrisi Sage (my woof-woofs are Barnum and Jackie) and I am putting together a 2006 Calendar called "For the Love of Rescues" Featuring Rescue Dogs to Benefit Rescue dogs.

What I need right now are rescue groups who would like a way to raise extra money for themselves. I am TOTALLY not charging ANYONE for what I'm doing!

The calendars will be available in September. I am donating everything above cost to rescue groups. The groups are listed on my website so when someone comes to my site and requests a calendar for their donation, they can chose which participating group their individual donation goes to. If a group has a link to us (we, of course, link back to them) they can encourage visitors to pick up a calendar and chose their organization for the donation. Also, if a group would like to get some calendars from me at cost, they can offer them for whatever amount they choose and keep all of it. Right now the best deal I've seen from the printers is $5 a calendar, and I plan on asking for a $15 donation to people visiting my website.

You can not believe how hard it is to get rescue groups involved! I don't know if people are just inherently suspicious of someone doing something for free, but I am a dog trainer, have worked for vets, kennels, rescues, etc. and embarked upon this project as my way of helping more dogs find homes.

Thanks!
Chrisi

I work with Southwest Ohio Doberman Rescue. I think they also go by the name of Peytons Place.

What about Humane Societies? SPCA? I am sure that there are plenty of us here that can contact our locals to see if they are interested.

Thanks for the heads up, guys. I will definitely contact these groups.

I live in Los Angeles, but am trying to reach this project across the country. So far I have groups involved from CA, IL, IN, WI, OH, PA, NJ, and one that works in most of the Southern States. But the more groups involved, the more people who will learn about the calendar, and the more rescue dogs who will be helped. That's the goal.

I have tried the SPCALA out here. They're such a large organization that they were, well, kinda rude to me. And I've even volunteered with them. But if any of you know of a local SPCA that might be interested, lemme know.

I don't need any more pix for the 2006 calendar. That was big step 1, and I got over 50 dogs I'll be featuring! What a fun variety of faces! And Dobermom! There is a Dobbie rescue named Charity who will be in it! I have several Lab mixes involved, one that is photographed with a backpack and a big smile hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains! I have put photos of all the dogs on my website. If you want a pick me up, take a look at those mugs!

Thanks, guys.

I found Peyton's Place rescue and sent along an introductory email. I mentioned you as "Dobermom." If you wouldn't mind chatting with whomever would make the decision to get on board, I'd appreciate it! And there is one dobbie, Charity. She should be on the "Still More Rescues" picture page. She's at the top. The sun is in her eyes, so she's squinting and her ears are back, but she comes from a Doberman rescue here in the Los Angeles area.

I also sent one to L.E.A.R.N. Lab Rescue. But I was having a hard time finding Packer Rescue or Heavens Hearts. GretaJack, do you know their website addresses by any chance?

I have tried going off of PetFinder before. I hit a lot of dead ends. Any particular groups you guys might recommend?

Thanks so much! And hi, to Lilly's Owner!

I don't see any GSPs so here's a link to get in touch with Lisa Rossman. She is heavily involved with the GSP rescue here and I'm sure she'd be more than willing to help out.

By the way, Henry and Sam are adorable!!! What happened to Neo's eye??
