Gretta is eating the bees!

Gretta has taken to eating the bees that are all over my blooming ground cover. They are the round bumble bees. So far she's been stung only once on the lip but it didn't stop her. She'll stop when I get after her, but then goes back to it later. Should I worry that she might get stung swallowing them? She kills them, then eats them. Sheesh! If it's not one thing it's another.

Eating bees definitly isnt a good idea. Especially if shes near a hive because once they sting...they let out a smell that tells the other bees to sting that thing too so she could be attacked by a swarm and could probably take her down and left there...to die. Its harsh but definitly a real life factor.

If she was allergic you'd know by know. It's likely harmless. My shepard did it too!. Never seemed to bother her to get bite.. actually she enjoyed crunching them more. LOL. Sworms would be another issue. Benedryl will counteract a reaction if she starts to develop symptoms.

I've had chocolate covered bees.. they are sweet and taste like honey.

Are you pulling my leg, Dag? I've heard of choc. covered ants....but bees!!??

Thanks for your input...nice to know someone elses dog has done the same thing and not been harmed by it. I best get some Benedryl to keep on hand just in case. Ummmmmmmmmm, maybe it's a Shepherd thing. We should take a poll!

well I hope she doesn't get stung too much more! Our previous dog would sit and snap at them but never ate them. Our current dog smacks bugs with her paw.

Lilly chases bees. I have to put her inside everytime she does it. I hope she doesn't decide to start eating them!!
