I have an 8 month old Schnauzer that potty trained very quickly. During the winter she would only ask for the door when she needed to, but now that the snow is melting she wants to go outside too many times a day. My question is...should I put her on a schedule to go outside? If so, how do I know how often she should go (for an 8 month old puppy)? Somebody told me they could hold it for as many hours as their age in months plus 1, that means my dog could hold it for 9 hours since she's 8. Is this right?

I just don't want to become her slave, but at the same time I want to make sure she goes a fair amount of times a day. Thanks!

Dogs learn quick. If you open the door every time she goes there. Get her on a schedule. Wake up time, after food and watering, after exercise. If you put her on a lead for a period of time, and take her to her "potty area" and bring her right back in, this will help
