Exclamation cosmos tail ripped off?!?!

I went out about 10 mins ago to see my dog and the end of his tail was all bloody. The fur was ripped off and so I found the end of his tail lying on the ground. Will the hair grow back??? There is still skin on the end of his tail.

Eep. Sounds painful. I'd definitely go to the vet. It could become infected. Any ideas on what happened?

I'm with Moo. The tail has lots of nerves in it as well. It would be like you cutting off a finger - you'd want to see a doctor wouldn't you. He might even need a stitch or two. As for the hair growing back - if is likely that it will grow back but not a high priority in the scheme of things.

Oh, definitely a vet. You could be dealing with a lot of problems with a tail injury and even more so without vet attention to prevent infection and so on. I hope all turns out okay!
