Question a few questions

do dogs get mosquito bites?
what does a flea bite, and/or flea bite dermatitis look like?
what are typical symptoms of a food allergy?
what types of seasonal allergy symptoms would a dog get(similar to hayfever or allergies in people)?

thanks in advance for replies

Does Sweeney have something unusual? :P Just a guess. lol

Yes mosquitos can bite dogs.

Kirby's never been bitten by a flea, I have though. They're little bug bites... umm... I'll see if I can search up a flea bite photo.

Food Allergy's may cause itching, itchy spots, and tear stains, tears stains are very common food allergy symptoms, especially small or white dogs.

Seasonal allergies : Kirby had one last summer. It was something to do with the grass, it cause blister-like things between his toes.

Is Sweeney on flea/tick medication (ie Sentinel)?

he has what appears to be a mosquito bite, could be flea, or spider too on his right hindquarter and i can't tell if he's itching his head, or his ears, but the mosquitoes are really bad here cause we have wet springs also, even though we can't beat you guys for rain.

no tear stains, and he doesnt seem to be picking at any one spot, belly, feet tail, which seems to be the major westie hotspots, just that spot that looked like a bite, and he hasnt itched it since i've been home from work. it really looks like a mosquito bite would look like on me. and seasonal allergies, are really bad here this year. the trees bloomed late at exactly the same time as the grass so its a double whammy on me, and my husband who is less severe than i am is feeling it hard to, if Sweeney was seasonally allergic, i'm sure it would be a doosey for him too.

im hoping the ear/head itchies isnt an ear infection, the westie list says this is often a preclude to food allergies, and with all the chaos here since mondays feeding fiasco, i can't be sure of anything. we are going to the vet tomorrow at 8am. he's on heartworm preventative(interceptor) already, and i will get some frontline tomorrow.

Melleth is on a distinguished road
Westies are also susceptible to Seborreah and Demodex.

If he is itchy all over try putting him on a diet of boiled hamburger and rice for a week or two and see if it stops. If it does then you know it is something in her food. Corn is a big cause. I have my dog on Innova Evo which has no grains in it and my dog's itching went away. She was really bad tot he point she had sores all over her and infections in her skin. Within a week of going onto Innova I saw a big improvement. Now she has been on it for 6 months and looks like a new dog.

My 2 shorthaired dogs get little red marks where ever bugs bite them. I try to keep them inside when the bugs are at their worse.
