Lilly lost her beautiful baby girl

This morning Lilly lost her beautiful baby girl. She was so little and wasn't feeding properly. She was very weak but she seemed to be getting better. I stayed up all night with her and at first she did try to drink from Lilly if I held her there but she wasn't getting any and would fall off the minute Lilly or her siblings moved. This morning she was stone cold even though she'd been cuddled up with the other babies on the heating pad so I rang the vet and made an appointment for 10 minutes later. In the meantime milk started squirting from her nose and she stopped breathing. I tried to get her breathing but it was too late. I was so upset and Lilly kept looking at me anxiously and getting so upset. She tried to make her better but couldn't she looked at me with such helplessness and I was ******** out. I rushed to the vet clinic and was hysterical when I got there. The vet couldn't do anything but he said he thinks it was fading puppy disease. He looked at the other pups and said they are all healthy like Lilly. They are drinking well and he said that they don't have it too. I gave the baby a hug and let Lilly say goodbye. She seems sad and anxious about the other puppies but she is a little bit better now and is spending all her time with the other 4. I'm going to miss that little girl so much. Out of all the puppies I had a special bond with her and she will always live on in mine and Lilly's hearts!

Brooke I am so sorry for yours & Lilly's loss.
For her short life she was loved. That's what is important.

I am verry sorry for your loss! Be thankful she does have the rest of the litter! It is always hard on them when it is their only one!

I named her Gem because she was so precious.



I am extremely thankful that I still have Lilly and the other babies and that they are all healthy. Poor Lilly has been searching for her baby all day



I'm giving the others lots of extra hugs. I am very blessed to have the little darlings in my life!

Oh Brooke! I'm sorry for your loss, as well as Lilly's. I've been down that road and even though you've done everything you can think of it still hurts so bad to lose one. I had one that was born deformed and although deep down I knew she wouldn't make it (we named her Sara), I still nursed her round the clock. She only lived 3 days. I cried all day over her. And, then like you're doing, I gave all the survivors that extra loving and hugs I would've been giving to her. She too, will always in be my heart. Sometimes there is just nothing we can do and puppy heaven needs them more than we do. My thoughts are with you.
