Unhappy Molly's baby boy

I just got done giving the lil boy his 3rd feeding and he seems to be doing a bit better. Rachel has been snuggling him for awhile now and he's pee'd on her 3 times already! After the last feeding, I stimulated him to pee and poop. He did both, and the poop was still his miconium poop...I don't know what to think of that?! It can't be all that bad, if he's able to get it out...I'd think that would mean that he's finally digesting something causing him to be able to poop? I'm wondering if I shouldn't try to get some milk from Molly and mix it in with his replacement. I tried to express some out of her before, but didn't get too much, just some drops.

Patty-I wish I could give you answers for a change! I do know you are doing EVERYTHING you can! Sounds like he is heading in the right direction.
From all that I have read, I'd say try to get some of Molly's goodies in him.
I'm thinking of you all

Hi JoAnn-
He's showing signs of Fading Puppy Syndrome...loss of weight, poor sucking- if any, no interest in nursing, dehydration, concentrated urine, weak muscle control etc.

Kendra-
That's right, any pee is good pee!

Time to make the formula.....

Oh shoot Patty, sorry to hear that. I wish i had a cure. I can tell you what i do with fading pups though. Sometimes they get through it and sometimes they dont. To keep them hydrated I get saline from my vet and injected small amounts under the skin on the back of the neck. I also give them small amounts of Instaglucose (it comes in a tube in a gel form) under the tongue to keep their sugar from dropping. That also gives them a little energy. Other than keeping him warm and trying to get him to nurse or drink supplement is all i know to do. I hope he pulls through. I'll say a prayer for the little guy tonight. JoAnn

I am supposed to take the others in tomorrow for their tails and dews...I'll bring him along and get some saline solution and the Instaglucose from him...how much of each do you give? I've been checking his dehydration by pinching the back of his neck and it seems to be the same, but not worse. Last night, when I laid him on his back, he wouldn't attempt to roll over, now he gets ticked off and gets onto his side before he has to struggle (I'm sure it's because he's so weak) to get onto his tummy. In between feedings, I've been keeping him under my shirt to stay warm. He just doesn't seem to be staying as warm in the whelping box. His toes feel cool to the touch in there. He's also the only one that hasn't lost his stump from his umbilical cord yet. But, at his 10:00 feeding, he got feisty with it. So, maybe there's hope for him yet. Maybe I've caught him in time. I guess only time will tell. Thanks for the suggestions and prayer...I'm open for anything at this point! If he does pull through, he's going to have to stay in the area...it'll be hard letting him go to another state and not be able to see how he's growing!

Unfortunately, the little guy didn't make it. I was feeding him and he was doing better (Like I said in the other post), but then at the 2:30 feeding, he got a lot worse and didn't want to eat. He would stiffen up his legs and then would lose muscle control and his breathing was very labored. By 3:30, he was up by Gem, looking forward to leading an exciting life in Puppy heaven. Thanks again for everyone's support...I truly appreciate it! The rest of the pups are doing well...they're up to 1 1/2# pounds already. I'll get some new pictures up after I notify all the the folks that have their deposits in for the males...one unfortuante person isn't going to get their new pup now.

Patty I am so sorry for your loss. I hope he is with Gem, both chatting about their moms! You loved him and you fought for him, it's all you could do. Good Luck with tails & dews today. I'll be looking forward to the pics.
