That is a goregous dog!

Sorry, I can't answer your question.

That breed can't be registered with any kind of dog registry? That would surprise me because there are registries that are accepting Cockapoos and Doodles...

Hum, now you have me thinking...

sussex bulldogs

the dogs are ARFE registered in europe but the old men that seem to be so set in there ways in the uk kennel club don.t like these new fangled modern world dogs which can run for 5 miles and think its a stroll in the park

The CKC and AKC are not quite thinking properly. Instead of encouraging good breeding practices they actually enforce inbreeding. I wouldn't feel bad about your breed not being recognized, actually you can ensure your breed stays in good genetic health by not having it recognized by kennel clubs that encourage in breeding and line breeding. You will be able to outcross to keep a larger gene pool thus discouraging most genetic disease.

You should read up about the Border Collie breed club, they actually protested AGAINST their breed being recognized by the AKC. They knew that once the breed was recognized the breed would slowly be ruined. Border Collies are still not recognized by the CKC, the breed club really protested against this at one time.

i fully understand what u mean. the breed it self has bin kiking about since 1983 .we as breeders would not want to be controlled by such orgiastions .its just the fact that pure bred dogs dont like us thats it .they think we are stealing from there pocket

BrittaniaKennel, I understand what you mean. As long as you are starting out with sound stock and making sure there are no genetic problems in the backgrounds of any of the founding stock you will do fine. Just make sure you keep bringing in new blood from different gene pools to keep a healthy breed.

IMO, I feel that kennel clubs that force unfair breeding practices into place are the ones stealing from the general public.
I wouldn't feel bad about what you are doing. I think you will see things changing in the future when people start really understanding just how harmful closing the stud books are on a small population of dogs. I don't think people understand that closing the stud books and forcing inbreeding and line breeding are creating genetic diseases. Its quite a contradiction when you hear purebred breeders say they are breeding to weed out genetic disease when they in fact have created those very genetic diseases in the first place. Every time a breeder breeds against a certain genetic disease they create a new one to take its place. That's why really small gene pools (very popular breeds) seem to have so many genetic diseases.

I admire you for breeding for health instead of an expectation of a kennel club...an unrealistic expectation I might add. There is nothing more unhealthy than purebred breeding. I find it really unbelievable that some people actually think that any thing that isn't a purebred is a mixture of purebreds...when you tell people that all purebreds are mixed and come from mongrels they almost don't believe you. That I find incredible. First came Mongrels, then man took small amounts of mongrels and kept breeding them until they got a purebred.
