LOL!!!!!

How do you get the little ones to latch on? Having a little trouble sometimes they latch on like they they have been doing it forever, other times, they act like they aint never seen them things before.

Thanks!!!

I just put the teat into their mouth and hold them up while they drink. It might take a few minutes but they should start suckling after that, and if not just squeeze a little bit of milk into their mouths that usually gets them drinking. Do they seem to be having problems sucking quite often or is just occasionally? If there's some in a particular try and feed them while the others are sleeping and just keep an eye on them. If they don't seem to be latching then contact your vet. It should be fine, some just take a little longer than others. Also if the problem is that their mum keeps moving around while they're trying to drink just try and keep her calm and that should make it easier for the pups.

I started out trying to get them to open their mouth and put the teat in, I squirted milk out, pulled one off that was having no problems so they would get a wet one.

Since my earlier post my yellows are kicking it in, I am nursing in shifts, my 4 little yellows go first, then when they are done my black and my Sprig.

How long do they nurse at a teat usually?

Thanks Again!!

It's great they're drinking well now
They will nurse for as long as they need to. Lilly's go for about 10-20 minutes every 1-2 hours but I guess depending on the size of puppies, breed etc that will probably vary. I can always tell when mine are full because they just lay there looking happy and contented and they aren't crying etc. A couple also lay on their backs when they're bloated

I"m glad to hear they're figuring it out. They don't nurse for too long...a lot of times, they like to lay there and "nuk" it.
