I HAVE A SHELTIE 3 AND A DACHSHUND 2, ELWOOD & JAKE. BOTH WENT POTTY ALL OVER THE HOUSE FOR 2 YEARS, GOT THEM FIXED AT THE HUMANE SOCIETY. JAKE, THE DOXIE, NEVER WAS AROUND OTHER PEOPLE, AND HE ACTS VICIOUS, WICKEDLY!!YET TO US AND THE CATS HE IS A LITTLE CUDDELER & KISSER. THE VET COULD NOT TOUCH HIM WITH A MUZZLE ON, SO HE SEDATED HIM, AND THAT DIDN'T WORK!!, THEY HAD TO PUT HIM ENTIRELY OUT TO EXAMINE BEFORE SURGERY. THE VET SAID HE NEEDED A SHRINK, AND WAS OUT OF CONTROL. THEY DON'T GO POTTY INSIDE ANYMORE,BUT JAKE IS UNCONTROLABLE AROUND OTHER PEOPLE. I CAN'T EVEN HAVEMY MOTHER OVER. I NEED TO GET HIM INTO THE VET, HIS EYES ARE MATTING INSIDE CORNER, I TRY EVERYTHING TO KEEP THEM CLEAN,WARM WATER,BABY OIL,ECT,SOMEONE SAID IT MIGHT BE A VIRUS. ANYWAY, HE HATES GETTING WET ALSO. THE SHELTIE ELWOOD WILL SIT & SHAKE, BUT THATS ALL, JAKE IS THE BOSS THO,CAN ANYONE HELP??

er yes - the vet is right. A dog that will bite any human is a dangerous animal and needs at least some very intensive retraining by a professional behaviourist. Personally if i had a dog that aggressive i would have them destroyed. I think both your dogs sound like they need some serious therapy and why oh why did you not socialise and train them when you first got them?

Good for you for giving this little dog a chance. I would call the Humane Society and ask them for a referral for a dog behavioralist. I believe there is a way for the dog to become socialized but it may take some time.

Hang in there!

Did you adopt both of your dogs from the humane society?
How old were they when you got them?
Sounds like he has a definate phobia for the vets, and often aggression to other people can be from fear!
Give a few more details, it would be a shame to give up on the poor guy at this stage.
