I posted in the other Sussex thread, and wondered what type of dogs these are. I am very unfamiliar with them ,and they look interesting.

Are they hunting dogs, working, sport? What purpose are they bred for? How is there temperment? Do they get a bad rep like the pitts?

Again, just curious this is the first I have seen or heard of them.

You can answer this for me;

1. What breeds did David Brown (the creator of this breed) use to invent this breed?
2. You say the he did this in 1980 something.. doesn’t this mean this is just another designer mutt to meet the needs of a few individuals like yourself. That is why all colors are acceptable, etc.
3. Over 500 dogs well, that just means you guys are busy breeders and according to Britannia’s posts – he gives them away.
4. Britannia’s referenced the SBA in England isn’t that just the club you guys have started yourself not an association of more than one type of dog. And what is ARFE besides a noise that dogs make.

To me, it seems like you go to forums like this and advertise this as a breed standard to get the name out there. I still think the dogs are very beautiful but I don’t necessarily think they are a breed on their own.

i would like to put my point across if that is ok firstly the creator of any breed is not going to tell you whats in their dogs the same as colonel sanders wont tell you wots in his fried chicken
2nd, wot was the 80,s designer years 500 people in more than one country says he must be finding a lot of designer people
3rd, if brittania says he gave him dogs then maybe he did wots the problem you never got something for nothing ?
4th, its a good job small minded people like you wernt around when the 1000,s of other dog clubs were formed
5th, the animal research federation of europe is a little bit more than something a dog does . maybe what your saying resembles more what a dog does

This breed is totally new to me. What I dont udnerstand is that all other bulldogs cant do too much physical excersise, so why is it that the sussex can do so much? It would be nice if you can answer all the other question as I am very curious myself.

Have you people never heard of capitialization and punctuation. A dog is not a chicken dish. If you can't or don't know the answer.. I'll wait.

ok i think the time has come to slow down on any bad mouthing from everybody.
firstly these are designer dogs yes!!!! designed to be a better dog than most of the breeds available to the public. every breed has a starting point and has a short history at SOME POINT. now to cover the point of advertising, WE DONT NEED TO we have over 500 dogs out in the world and you lot have never heard of the SUSSEX BULLDOG......

and now for the question of what breeds were used in the foundation of this breed, the simple answer is no-one except Mr Brown actually knows which breeds and to what degree. i hope you can accept this answer as it is the only one i can give with honesty...

Clive, what dogs are in this designer breed? I'm not bad mouthing anyone but really "self whelping dogs" never seen a two year old dog still suckling. And we haven't heard of the Sussex Bulldog but the internet search engines haven't either.

As for 500 dogs there are millions of mutts in the world too - it doens't make them a breed.
