AKC and legislation breeding issues
Does anyone remember a post being made about the AKC and legislation wanting to change the "rules" about breeding...any fewer than 7 litters or 25 pups/year were going to be penalized? I recall it being on here someplace, because I can remember the small breed breeders saying that it wasn't fair because their dogs only have 2-3 pups per litter. If anyone can find that post, please let me know or lead me to it. Thanks for helping me out here!

Patty I don't remember the post (and I can't find it either) however I have done a bit of research as this intriguied me. It would appear that the AKC had a committee who researched and produced a report and recommendations on "high volume breeders" ie those who were producing more than 7 litters a year. I have not read the full report but basically they are going to inspect any "high volume breeders" at least once every two years. I have not seen anything in the report (so far and I'm up to page 6) that says anything about penalising other breeders.
Can I ask why did you want to know? Do you want me to post the link to the report they produced?

It's come up on another forum and I remembered it being here...I wanted to pass some opinions/thoughts along over there. That would be wonderful if you'd post the link...I'd like to read it as well...seeing as I breed, but not 7/year. Thanks!!

So you post on other forums too - traitor - LOL, only joking. Here's the link, the report is quite old but it's the latest one they've produced on the issue that I can find. It seems to be aimed at protecting the welfare of the puppies. It's 26 pages so I think I need to print it off...
