You're funny, I can tell you love GSD's....

I think they're cool too. I posted about my friends two in your other thread. I love to go over there and watch them. One loves the pool, so she will jump in all the time.

My friend found them when she was out riding one day. She heard them whimpering and looked down and saw two puppies with their eyes not even opened yet, so she got off and put them in her shirt and rode home. She's had them ever since.

They totally look like different dogs, though. One is bigger and heavier and the other is leaner and looks more wolf like.

We have a german shep in the obedience class I am currently in. He's 6 months old and a real handful....but then again, it's not the dog, it's the owner. Hopefully he will become a really nice pup after some basic training.

Sheena is my first pure breed german shepherd. After having her I will never go for any other breed. In my eyes she is perfection.

I like them but i wouldnt want one myself, they're too easy to stuff up. One wrong move in their training and you're up the creek without a paddle. Some dogs you can afford to make a few mistakes but not with a sheperd because one serious mistake and you could have a very dangerous dog and a few small mistakes can make a dog that is horrid to live with. Beautiful animals though and super if someone really competant has raised them.

If this posts twice I apologize my computer is acting up ok as i said in my origonal post, I never thought about it until i read you guys posts about how easy it is to screw up a shepherd. See i grew up with shepherds so i never realized just how aggressive they can actually be. My mom and dad used to raise them, at 1 yr old we had the biggest shepherd mom's ever seen in her life. My parents adopted a retired a military police dog that was a shepherd....he was super mean at first mom said they couldn't even get up to him that they had to put his dish just out of his reach so they couldn't get bit and use a long stick to push it towards him. Well eventually he grew to love us but was classified anitsocial. So when i met a family members shepherd for the first time and was warned HE WAS SUPER MEAN. I became determined to make him my friend or at least never get bit.So i watched her interact with her dog. Everytime someone even went to walk by her she would grab his collar even if he wasn't making a move towards the person. Even the kids who were teenagers were scared of the dog if he was in the kennel outside the wouldn't turn their backs on him because he'd bite. Well i have discovered sheperds don't like drastic change, for example this one had been in the house all his life and suddenly because he was so big he was forced to stay in a kennel with no attention except feedings. Shepherds can't take that the need contant interaction or they get aggressive and i tried telling them that. Well then her not allowing him to interact with people when he was in the house and her grabbinghis collar evertime someone moved towards her sent him a fear message so he defended her. I was able to work with him and he became a great dog to be around he even played with my 3 yr old girl on a regular basis....she'd climb all over him and pull on him with no problems. Unfortunately he was banished to the kennel again and reverted back to his aggressive behavior and when he grabbed a 4 yr old by the coat and pulled down on the ground his fate was sealed. I guess the bottom line is if you don't want to devote time to your dog then don't get one. And a shepherd isn't a dog for everyone.
sorry for the long post
