    Broccoli Rabe...Safe for dogs?

It's pronounced Broccoli Raw-Bee and my bf picked some up with the rest of the animals fruits and veggies. He already ground up everything together and I've never fed this to the animals.
I wondered if the whole plant leaf and stems are safe for them. I assume so I've read online that people eat the whole plant but as always I'm a paranoid Mama.
I will ask my holistic vet on monday but wanted to see if any of you have fed this to your furkids.
    Thanks!

It's fine for the dogs, just expect a bit more gas because it's new to them.

K, thanks! Their bellies are used to all veggies. every 2 weeks they get a blend of many types of veggies and fruit. I always like to try new things but this broccoli rabe had me stumped. I know that on rhubarb the leaves are toxic and so even thought the 2 aren't related I just want to be safe my babies.

I stay away from much brocolli or kale related items because of the gassiness and because of the effect it can have on some dogs thyroid. I use quite a bit of cauliflower though - steamed.
Forever my boys, Bogey and Miko. All my love till we meet again.

I use cruciferousveggies but not a lot. If I use kale I don't use broccoli and so forth but I do grind them up raw and feed them raw. My dogs and cats LUCKILY haven't had a problem with gassiness.

I would give them small pieces but not too much...Like people are already mention here it will give your dog gas. But if your dogs' bellies are already used to veggies they might be ok with it as well. Just try out little by little and see how it goes!

    Keep us updated though

They did fine with the brocolli rabi. Thank goodness cause it's ground up with a bunch of other fruits and veggies that will last them about 3 weeks!

If they couldn't have eaten it myself and the bf would be having lots and lots of smoothies with ground veggies in them. No need for food to go to waste!
