My 4month old shih tzu is so attached to me that whenever i just leave him alone in a room or in his play pen for just 5 seconds, he starts barking like anything up until i come back. He normally follows me everywhere I go, even while im bathing he'll just sit outside the tub. Its a good thing i've got a help who comes in when I have to leave the house but its driving me a bit crazy coz I know i cannot be with him 24/7. I once placed him in his play pen (that serves as his crate) for 2hours since i had to do something then to my dismay, he eliminated everywhere! Whenever I leave him, he always does that. Can someone pls tell me how I can fix this seperation anxiety he has. He doesnt sleep with me at night so hes pretty much ok about that but when morning sets in, its like he expects to be with me or any human contact for the whole day, even when he's placed in his crate during the afternoons, someone has to be in the same room or else he gets into a barking frenzy. Please help! Thanks!

Close the door. Let him bark - whine whatever. They will learn that life will go on if they are left alone.

I agree, put him outside if you don't want to clean up the mess, let him bark, howl, whine, he will get over it in the end. The less you run to him the sooner it will happen.
