Prices of toy poodles
Hi everyone i have been emailing and ringing breeders of toy poodles and one breeder has said her prices will be going up she is asking for blacks a male $1,200 on a limited registration and brown males $1,500 on a limited registration. Is this breeder asking to much for her puppies?.One breeder has said $1,000 for a red puppy on a limited registration. For the money i would probably go for the red toy poodle. One breeder has told me that blacks and browns, whites are cheaper then the apricots, reds, blue, sliver, and beige.I will contact the main breeders i feel more comfortable with which is 2 breeders right now that i feel comfortable with. One breeder breeds black, brown, and red/apricot.The other breeder breeds apricots and sometimes has red toy poodles. The one breeder also doesn't want to over charge people she just wants to make sure her toy poodle puppies go to good homes she gave me a price of $900.Why are toy poodles so expensive?is it cause they don't shed and don't have an odor?.A breeder also told me that toy poodles will want to sleep with you on the bed more then in there own bed.I'm going to be corning off a bit of my room for the puppy to sleep in.But during the day since i'm home all day he/she will be with me so i can keep an eye on him/her.When i'm going out or won't be home he/she will be put in the bathroom with a bowl of water, food and some newspaper. Here in australia most breeders and puppy officer of toy poodles said prices are $900 to $1,200.

I don't know...to me $1200.00 does sound a bit expensive, but prices of dogs vary depending on where you get them. Maybe there are not as many breeders in your area, so therefore the breeders that are around charge more for each pup cuz there is a higher demand. I'm not sure, but that's definitely one possibility. Other breeders just charge high prices because of how long they have been breeding and how nice the lines are of the pups.

I'm assuming those are Australian Dollars you are talking about; So I'm doing the conversion.
900 - 1200 AU = 683 - 911 USD OR 859 - 1145 CAN Prices are variable for dogs... Some of the pricing is due to the breed, more is for the upbringing of the puppies, and supply and demand. Have you been to the homes of the breeders, and do you know what kind of conditions and care the pups are under? I did pay a relative amount more for Kirby; plus shipping, but then again she is one of the few breeders of them in Western Canada. |

If you are getting a show quality dog that price does not sound out of line. I remember that there are a lot of costs for different registrations, etc in Australia vs the US or Canada.
Your best bet would be to shop around and contact as many breeders as possible. That way you'll have good information for comparison. |

It really depends on the quality of the breeder. Have you seen the puppy's and parent's pedigrees? Are there any champions in it at all? A quality breeder will be breeding against luxating patella (bad knees), eye problems and any other thing that plagues poodles. If the breeder tries to dismiss a conversation about this, move on. For that kind of money the breeder should have a lot to say! Go on line and get a list of things to ask a breeder. We just got a new Pom from a very well known breeder. She was quite expensive and I put the breeder through her paces (and she didn't mind). A really good breeder will be quizzing you, too, to be sure you're going to take good care of the puppy. Good luck. Take your time.

Thanks i want to make sure that i'm making the right decision before getting a toy poodle.I also want to make sure a toy poodle fits into the family. So by making sure i'm doing my homework on the breed and also talking to owners.Yesterday i saw a pale apricot and a brown toy poodle and i had a bit of a talk and pated her dogs. The reason why i have decided to wait until next year before getting one.Is i want to make sure i'm prepared for him/her and have done alot of homework on the breed.

sounds reasoneable to me. My little man was 700 canadian but that was only b/c the breeder was very sick and needed to sell all the pups quickly. He may even turn out show quality (right now he is SLIGHTLY undershot but he has some growing left to do on that top jaw) though he may go slightly oversized (crossing fingers that he doesn't) and red I think are more exspensive b/c they are a harder color to breed.
