Prices of toy poodles

Hi everyone i have been emailing and ringing breeders of toy poodles and one breeder has said her prices will be going up she is asking for blacks a male $1,200 on a limited registration and brown males $1,500 on a limited registration. Is this breeder asking to much for her puppies?.One breeder has said $1,000 for a red puppy on a limited registration. For the money i would probably go for the red toy poodle. One breeder has told me that blacks and browns, whites are cheaper then the apricots, reds, blue, sliver, and beige.I will contact the main breeders i feel more comfortable with which is 2 breeders right now that i feel comfortable with. One breeder breeds black, brown, and red/apricot.The other breeder breeds apricots and sometimes has red toy poodles. The one breeder also doesn't want to over charge people she just wants to make sure her toy poodle puppies go to good homes she gave me a price of $900.Why are toy poodles so expensive?is it cause they don't shed and don't have an odor?.A breeder also told me that toy poodles will want to sleep with you on the bed more then in there own bed.I'm going to be corning off a bit of my room for the puppy to sleep in.But during the day since i'm home all day he/she will be with me so i can keep an eye on him/her.When i'm going out or won't be home he/she will be put in the bathroom with a bowl of water, food and some newspaper. Here in australia most breeders and puppy officer of toy poodles said prices are $900 to $1,200.

I don't know...to me $1200.00 does sound a bit expensive, but prices of dogs vary depending on where you get them. Maybe there are not as many breeders in your area, so therefore the breeders that are around charge more for each pup cuz there is a higher demand. I'm not sure, but that's definitely one possibility. Other breeders just charge high prices because of how long they have been breeding and how nice the lines are of the pups.

I'm assuming those are Australian Dollars you are talking about; So I'm doing the conversion.
900 - 1200 AU =
683 - 911 USD
OR
859 - 1145 CAN

Prices are variable for dogs... Some of the pricing is due to the breed, more is for the upbringing of the puppies, and supply and demand. Have you been to the homes of the breeders, and do you know what kind of conditions and care the pups are under? I did pay a relative amount more for Kirby; plus shipping, but then again she is one of the few breeders of them in Western Canada.

If you are getting a show quality dog that price does not sound out of line. I remember that there are a lot of costs for different registrations, etc in Australia vs the US or Canada.

Your best bet would be to shop around and contact as many breeders as possible. That way you'll have good information for comparison.

Thats the thing them prices are in pet Quality so i think she is asking to much for a black and brown puppy.Specially when i can get a red toy poodle pet Quality for $1,000 and an apricot pet Quality for $900.Red toy poodles are rare around my area not many people breed the reds.

It really depends on the quality of the breeder. Have you seen the puppy's and parent's pedigrees? Are there any champions in it at all? A quality breeder will be breeding against luxating patella (bad knees), eye problems and any other thing that plagues poodles. If the breeder tries to dismiss a conversation about this, move on. For that kind of money the breeder should have a lot to say! Go on line and get a list of things to ask a breeder. We just got a new Pom from a very well known breeder. She was quite expensive and I put the breeder through her paces (and she didn't mind). A really good breeder will be quizzing you, too, to be sure you're going to take good care of the puppy. Good luck. Take your time.

.No i haven't seen the puppies or parents i'm not buying a toy poodle until may to early june next year.Only 1 breeder has invited me to go and view her dogs which i will next year. She has been breeding for a long time too i have been told she doesn't show her dogs but her dogs are tested for PRA each year. She knows alot about the breed and has answered all my questions and we even had a nice talk for an hour.About the poodle and poodle crosses nothing good about that. She is tottal against cross breeding. She was just telling me how poodle crosses shed and why people are crossing them. The other breeder that sells her blacks for $900 browns $1,000 reds $1,000 pet Quality has answered all my questions and tests her dogs for PRA once a year. She shows her dogs.People have told me to stay away from people who charge to much for there puppies cause there trying to make money.Where breeders that charge less just want there dogs to go to good homes. The puppy officer of the toy poodle has said this too so i'm staying away from that breeder that wants $1,200 for a male black pet quality and $1,500 for a male brown pet quality.Cause for pet quality you still have desxing and vaccionations which ups the price. So i get an apricot for $900 desexing $90-$100 vaccionations $20-$40 so by time thats all done i'm spending $1,040.Then on top of that you have brushes, combs, tooth brush and paste, ear equipment, toys, bed, and probably more i'm forgetting about which will bring the price up too $1,181 or more.So this is why i think that breeder is asking too much. Then you have professional grooming which will be $60 or more each month.Which will be $720 of professional grooming in one year then you have food which will be $35 or more for 2 weeks so that will bring the cost up to over $2,000 or more. This is only an estimate pricing so it could be more then what i am saying.I do all the grooming for my golden retriever Einstein i brush him daily. When i get my toy poodle he/she will be brushed once a day too.He/she will also get its teeth brush and scraped once a day.Ear hairs pulled once a week or when ever need to be done.I think it really depends on how much i'm willing to spend on my toy poodle. And how much traveling i want to do to get my toy poodle.Since i don't have a car my parents have to drive me and they do not want to drive to far.The closest breeder to me is an hour and half away and she breeds pale apricots for $900 pet quality.

Thanks i want to make sure that i'm making the right decision before getting a toy poodle.I also want to make sure a toy poodle fits into the family. So by making sure i'm doing my homework on the breed and also talking to owners.Yesterday i saw a pale apricot and a brown toy poodle and i had a bit of a talk and pated her dogs. The reason why i have decided to wait until next year before getting one.Is i want to make sure i'm prepared for him/her and have done alot of homework on the breed.

sounds reasoneable to me. My little man was 700 canadian but that was only b/c the breeder was very sick and needed to sell all the pups quickly. He may even turn out show quality (right now he is SLIGHTLY undershot but he has some growing left to do on that top jaw) though he may go slightly oversized (crossing fingers that he doesn't) and red I think are more exspensive b/c they are a harder color to breed.
