The Animal Rescue Foundation, an all volunteer, no-kill, non-profit shelter located in Beacon NY, is hosting Clicker training workshops for kids 8-16. Details follow:
Clicker training is fun, easy to learn and extremely beneficial to the relationship between owner & dog. Kids are no exception, and many times the bonds grow deeper in this relationship. There's no better time to come learn how to use the clicker, how dogs learn, and to understand canine behavior for both training & safety knowledge. Workshops are 3 hours long, held outdoors weather permitting, and include lots of hands-on practical use with the clicker and a kid friendly demo dog. The session on 8/7/05 will be for ages 8-12, and there will be a workshop for ages 12(with experience)-16 on 8/21. Both run 1-4pm. ARF's trainer is a member of the following professional organizations: Association of professional Dog Trainers (APDT), Society of Veterinary Behavior technicians (SVBT), NYState Assoc of Veterinary technicians (NYSAVT), and a long-time volunteer at ARF. Before dedicating her life completely to working with animals, she directed a preschool program through the local recreation department, was a senior counselor at summer camps, and coach various athletic camp sports for kids K-12. questions? arfbeacon@optonline.net. I love my clicker... Was great for heel training, and great for agility training. Most good for body positions.
I wrote up something about them before. Here, for those of us who just want a read: http://www.prodoggroomingsupplies.co...ead.php?t=3155 |
