Items needed/Whelping List

I have read a whloe libary of breeding books, and I have found that the items needed for whelping are very vaired, I would be gratefull if you all would tell me the things you have ready for whelping. I just cant belive the range of things some breeders have available, when some make do with a few items. I want to be ready for everything!!!!

I thought I saw this somewhere else here, but here's my .02 worth....
suction bulb-to clean out their nose and throat/lungs
latex gloves-to get a great grip on the babies
paper toweling
hand towels-to scrub the babies dry
scissors-to cut the cord about 1" from the navel
dental floss-to tie the cord
iodine-to clean up the cut from the cord
garbage bags
paper and pencil-to record time and markings
clock-to know how much time has passed and when each pup was born
scale-you can even use a postal one, just have a container to put on top to hold the pups in
heating pad/lamp-to put the babies on/under while mom is delivering more
camera-gotta get those first moments you know
good book-for those in between minutes/hours
drink-but not too stiff of one
Oxytocin-I use this, but I'm an experienced breeder. If you've never bred before, leave this for the vet to administer. It's for cleaning Mom out and promoting her milk to come in.

Anyone think of anything I might have forgotten? I should know all of these things needed, I just delivered a litter 4 weeks ago and another one was due yesterday...but you never know...forgetfull minds sometimes.

Yep thats preaty much what my list says (I made it from dif things in dif books,) the only thing I dont know where to get hold of is a suction bulb, A couple of thing on the list in a book are un-waxed dental floss now what would that be for, and glucose drink for the bitch when she gets tired is this a ok thing to give? it says 1 tablespoon glucose to 1 pint of water

Yes, a glucose drink is ok to give them...I've never used it, but it's fine.
As for the suction bulb...go to the baby dept. of the store and get one there. Otherwise, call the hospitals, sometimes they'll sell you one. That's what kind I use.

Sometimes they like to bleed a bit. I've never tied it...it's too hard to tie when they're wiggling around and I'm usually by myself so I don't have anyone to hold the pup while I tie it.

As for the suction bulb, look for a "booger s u c k e r" as the kids like to call it.

Sorry, I couldn't help you with that either...never used it. I've always offered water only. Glucose is just sugar water though, so maybe just mix some of that up?
