Akbash
Has anyone here ever heard of the breed? I rescued one from being put down at the vets office a couple of years ago, he was skin and bones and the rancher wanted him destroyed because he was no longer staying with the flock. The vet and I discussed it briefly and decided that after looking into his eyes, we could see a gentle soul, so the farmer gave him to me with his papers. I put 50lbs on him, took him to obedience class, socialized him then contacted the Albash rescue, and he is now living on a horse ranch as happy as can be with people who love him. I loved him very much, but a 140lb LPG is not happy in a suburban lifestyle. I was thinking of him the other day and thought I'd share his picture. I miss him
They are a wonderful breed, and if I ever have a farm with livestock that need a guardian I would get one in a heartbeat.

I have heard of the breed, don't know much about it, and have never met one personally. What a great thing you did for him!
