Our 9 month schnauzer/chiawawa misbehaves when we are gone. We have a 2 year old Golden who is an 'Angel'and trained well. Tazzy (our baby) gets LOTS of attention and is crate trained and behaves for a couple of hours when we are gone, but after that WOW! I hate to crate him all day while at work, but if we don't we won't have a house left. We've even made just the kitchen for them both and Tazzy still gets into trouble. Outside he digs. We do have a dog run, but both dogs want to be inside the house and will bark. Help, "I" need training.

Good news, he'll probably outgrow it. He's at the stage of life (the teenage years) when they take pleasure in driving you nuts.

Although you hate to do it, the crate all day is the best place for him. Put a few chew toys in there with him. Or outside in your dog run and maybe with an antibark collar.

The digging can be because his nails are too long. Check them.

I believe that a tired dog is a good dog. You could also try increasing the level of his activity in the morning. Quick paced walk or 1/2 hr of intense play to tucker him out.
