When I had my Boxer I did quite a bit of reading on the breed. For a long time white pups were put down at birth due to the belief that they were unhealthy. I'm not sure if this is correct or not---I'm definately not an expert on the genetics of dogs. I did see an add in the paper a few months ago selling a white litter "Show quality". I didn't they could be shown.

Well, if it is the same in boxers as Border Collies...the genetics play a big role. (I'm not an expert, just something I have learned through curiosity. So, if someone knows more than I, jump in at anytime!) If you breed a merle to a merle and get white pups, often they are ''unhealthy'' They are blind or deaf, sometimes both. But other than that, they lead pretty healthy lives.

I am not sure of about whether they can be shown(if they are anything like the border collie--as not supposed to be all white--) because white is not a color choice. It'd like me trying to put a sable cocker in a conformation ring. It won't happen.

I also am no expert, but I would stay away from them. I did lots of research on the white Doberman. The white Boxer and the white Doberman have similiar issues. Alot of people say they should be put down at birth. I think thats wrong, but I also think breeding a genetic defect is also wrong. In both dogs white is a genetic defect, and the dogs can not show.
They have skin isues and sight problems. They are also said to have temperment issues.
I looked VERY seriously into buying a white Doberman, I was going to pay $750.00 for him, had $100.00 down on a puppy. After much research, I decided against it.
I dont have a problem with people owning white Boxers or Dobes. My problem is with the money hungry people breeding genetically poor dogs for the WRONG reason: MONEY! If you breed white to white you get ALL white, thats WRONG!

Thats why White Boxers have a bad name, they can be Kennel club regestered but can not be shown this is down to the Boxer breed socity not the Kennell club. It is a myth that they have problems they are the same as other dogs people belived that if a dog was white it would be blind, deaf, and get skin canger all myths. White Boxers and white Dobermans having health problems is NO myth! We can sit here all day and find sights both pro white and con white. I truly feel I have researched this issue fully. Like I said i am not against owning one, I am against intentional breeding of the white gene.

Of course a WHITE Boxer rescue will be pro white! The Doberman rescue I am involved with accepts whites, but is very cautious placing these dogs, and has a harder time doing so.

From what I've hered some white pups come from litters where their parents are brindles, only 10% of white boxers are deaf, but the problem is people used to think all white boxers are deaf, 90% of white boxer puppies are just as healthy as any other dog, I agree that intentional breeding of the whits gene is bad but, I dont know of anyone that did this, a white boxer can be regestered because its from two regerestered parents, so why do people drown at birth? Because they here about the 10% that are deaf and thats all they remember. The book I'm reading at the mo is about breeding and it has a list of all the breeds and the common birth defects, surely this is the same as 10% of white boxers being deaf.

I must admit I have never heard of a white doby do you have a pic?

You can get a white pup out of any color combination I believe if the white gene is in the line. I think the male carries color, so if in the males line there is white gene, it is possible to have a white puppy. I know if you breed white to white you will get ALL white all the time. I really dont know much about genetics and breeding so if my info is a little off forgive me.
