Hi,
Im new to the forum as of today. I've researched the subject a bit and have talked with my vet, but I was wondering if anyone else had some insight on this. My 5 year old beagle, Amber, has a horrible snoring problem. It has gotten to the point to where it keeps me and my wife up at night. I guess the eaiest solution would be to move her to another room but that will take some time to do and we also live in a one bedroom apartment so it's not like she would be that far away. My vet said it is probably because of her weight, but she is only 2-3 pounds overweight if that. (She weighs 31lbs) I have her on weight control food hoping to get her to shed those extra couple of pounds to see if this will help, but does anyone else have any suggestions. Thanks for any help ( I used the search option to try and find similar topics but had no luck, if I'm missing something could someone point me in the right direction) |

My old girl can saw logs on occasion. Have you noticed that the snoring is less if the head is slightly elevated? It might be helpful to have a new bed that puts the dog in a better position. As for the weight reduction, 2-3 overweight still means about 5-6 lbs could be lost. That might help a lot.
What about the humidity levels where you live? I notice when the humidity is low, both my dogs have more nasal noises. |

well there are lot's of reason's dogs snore, i doubt very seriously your's from what your describing has anything to do with weight, could be allergies, could be getting older and the skin in there is just not as firm as it once was, humidity even, i have mastiff's and bulldogs, and WOW you talk about snoring, but the mastiff's snore because of a bone in the back of their nasal passage, bulldogs because of their smashed faces
