My 9 month old beagles wake up every morning between 3:30 and 4 am. Since they were babies we tried to get them on a schedule to eat breakfast at 5am which is when I leave for work, but they just won't sleep that long. To this day they will wake up and yap every 5-10 seconds till I get up and take them outside to pee. They will then continue to yap until I finally feed them at 5am--then they fall asleep again on their pillow outside. Is there anything I can do to train them to keep sleeping until breakfast? If I bring them back inside after they pee-- they only get more energy and want to play. What should I do? I would think by 9 months they would be used to 5 am by now.

Rosie more questions sorry. lol I replied to your other question before I looked here.
Do your dogs know you are their leader? I suggest you search for NILIF online if you haven't already. Also what time do they have their last drink at night? Try take their water away earlier at night. Also you need to ignore this barking. Don't let them out until you are ready. It could take a few days. But they will soon get the message. They need to learn that you won't let them out just because they are asking you to. Unfortunately this could mean a few days less sleep for you all. But it sounds like you are missing out already. |
