???how many pups???
Is it the male or female that determines how many pups are born? Thank you! And if anyone is familiar with chihuahua breeding, I posted a pic of my girls belly.....LOL......I dont know for sure if she took or not but its three weeks. She threw up a few times tonight.

It is the female who determines the number of puppies to be born and the male who determines the sex of the pups.

The male determines the sex and the Female decided's how many she's gonna have... I hope your female has a safe deleivery....

I never knew that the mother picked how many pups she has.... Where have I been? Not totally sure but not in this galaxy... >< confuzzled.... XD

The mother doesn't "choose" the number of pups and the father doesn't "decide" which the number of boys or girls. It's all genetics, though, all pups get an "X" chromosome from their mother and either an "X" or a "Y" from the father (XX= girl puppy, XY= male puppy, it's the same for humans)... but there is a 50/50 chance of male vs female. And the number of pups is purely based on the number of eggs fertilized. Though, certain size dogs have a tendency to have larger or smaller litters.
