grass eating

Max has been eating alot of grass, evertime he is out there he looks like a cow, He got sick from it 2 times.. Is he ok????

It's normal and not likely to be a sign of anything wrong. You can try adding more vegtables to his diet like green beans,lettuce, etc. However, mine could never pass by long tall grass without at least having a nibble or two.

Nobody really knows why dogs eat grass...some say from boredom, some say because they are lacking something in their diet, others say it's because they have gas and by eating the grass it helps them to either burp or "the other end". But, the bottom line is that no, it won't hurt him and I doubt there is anything wrong with him. It's more of a human misunderstanding for us than a problem for them.

Poppy grazes like a guinea pig - sometimes she's sick from it, mostly she isn't. It isn't a problem unless they eat a load and then it has trouble coming out the other end if you know what I mean - LOL

Bailey eats grass compulsively.
I do find though, that most of the time it's just grazing, but when she gets really voracious, then there is something else that's upsetting her belly.

Mara loves to eat the long fresh sweet grass when I take her to the dikes. As someone already said---the problem can be in the "rear"!!

Roo likes to eat the grass in the swamp, but everytime he does this he ends up ralphing in the middle of the night. With that I trained him to use a pail. Each time he felt the spirit move I would place a pail under his mouth...after awhile he just does it on his own. Sorry if I grossed anyone out.

Koni eats grass and even weeds. I am starting to think he will eat anything that grows out of the ground.

I read one time in a Dog Health book that Dogs eat grass to Pass Worms. Because the grass is roughage*...I think I spelled that wrong lol
