I am a worry bug

I called my vet, for some reason I had this feeling Max had bloat He was acting funny to me and the yellping scared me, LOL he is so nice he said he has never seen a case in a puppy so young and if Max was sleeping good and not moving around like mad then he is fine... Its been about hr and half that he was yellping I think I can clam down now, If he had bloat he would be so sick by now.

And just think he is only 9 weeks old... Ill be calling the vet every other day god help them lol

Don't feel bad you re not the only one! Bella was just spayed on Tuesday, I insisted on bringing her home that night (nobody would be there to watch her anyway), called the next day cause she still wasn't eating, took her back to the vet yesterday so he could look at her stitches (they looked red to me), and called again today cause she had a little bloody discharge.

Only the best for our little ones!

Bella...Baja was done on Monday and I didn't have a choice I had to bring her home...I would of rather kept her in overnite, just to give her a break,as I have two pups...and its tough keeping them apart...But they are doing real well..I can keep both in the room with me and they don't start nothing..Mind you I wouldn't do that if I was out of the room, just asking for trouble...lolDon't they bounce back fast..Baja was out of it for like just Monday and as of Tuesday she was back to herself again, full of spit and vineager....Its funny as you can't even tell she had surgery..the brat...So how is your pup doing?? Baja goes in on Thursday to get stitches removed....and then she can be let loose on her brother...lol.. I can hardly wait....

Don't worry your not the only one. My poor vet must be sick of me calling all the time, but thats what they are there for. An we are the ones who see them everyday so we know when there is something wrong with our fur babies.

Just an FYI, from what I have heard, bloat in dogs can resemble colic in horses. They can't get comfortable, they focus inward (not wanting to interact with humans or other animals in the house),they don't want to play with their toys, or chew on their bones, they lay down, get up, roll around, and they look extremely strange. They tend to just focus on their discomfort since there is no way to really elevate it. Now, with a puppy of any breed that is on a controlled feeding schedule, they will enhale their food at feeding times. They swallow a lot of air that makes their bellys hard and swollen. But that should pass quickly (no pun intended, passing gas that is). Check his belly after his first bowel movement after he ate. It should be back to normal or at least close.

Now, also another FYI. You can get his stomach tacked if you feel that he is at risk for bloating. From what I have heard at work, bloat can be genetic. So if you know that either parent has suffered from bloat or a dog from a previous litterof theirs, it is something that could be considered to prevent that problem. I hAve no idea what is all involved with the surgery, but I just know that it has been done since I have been there to a Bernese Mountain Dog.

Bella is doing better today, she wakes up in the middle of the night though panting really heavy. She is a bulldog and they are known not to show pain.....I have had her since she was 12 weeks and have never heard her so much as wimper so I am watching every little move she makes wondering if she is in pain! She has to keep her stitches for 10 days so they don't come out til next Sat.
