Angry Wow?

Has Anyone Ever Heard Of Anybody Piercing Their Dogs Ears? I Would Think That Would Have To Be Illegal, Or Cruel To Say The Least. Who Would I Call To Report That? The Girl I Work With Has A Neighbor Who Is 18 And Pierced Her Dogs Ears, With Human Stud Earrings.

Sadly, I don't think there is much that you can do. Think of ear cropping. There have been people that have been known to crop their own dogs ears, instead of having a vet do it.

Obviously, it is extremely dangerous to have a dog's ear pierced. It most likely will get caught on something and rip the ear. Or get infected, or maybe both.

But you could always call the humane society in the area and just inform them of it. But sadly, for this dog, there is nothing illegal about it. Too bad people can't be punished for being just plain stupid.

I've done it by accident (fish hook) LOL

I doubt the vet did it and I would never do it to my dogs.

If you were in the UK i would say its definately illegal - but our animal welfare laws are a lot tighter than the US. Either way its totally sick.

I agree! If it isn't illegal then it most certainly should be!

the girl i work with called her vet, they said they would definitely NOT advocate such a thing, and to call the SPCA.

I think that piercing the ears isn't illegal.. but the not being a doctor and technically performing surgery on their own dog IS illegal. I'd keep an eye.. perhaps call the SPCA. I've seen stuff with home ear cropping where the owners get in trouble for it.. not to mention, if the owner is stupid and inhumane enough to do seomthing along those lines, I'm SURE they are doing something else they could get into trouble for.

Thumbs down

some people shouldn't be allowed the privelage of dog ownership. i hope that this dog makes it to a loving family somehow!
