Neutering and Personality change

This is just really an "give me your opinion" more than anything else...

I am getting my 6 month old toy poodle fixed next week.

Will getting him fixed really "calm him down" like I have been reading, or is that just an old wives tale.

He is not a "hyper" puppy, but he has his moments.

Thanks!

~Jennifer

It won't change his personality BUT it will stop his marking and wanting to wander when females are in season....

Yup, his personality will stay the same but he should become more docile if he wasn't before. Keep in mind you still have a puppy and puppies tend to be way more active and hyper. The world is all new to them and they get excited about it, fixed or not.

Poodles can be very hyper dogs altered or not.

i am going to go out on a limb here, having a dog fixed is a tad bit diffrent from say a man or a women being "fixed", but the personality's do change, i mean it makes sense that they do change, your hormones, most of which make up your personality are being altered because of the "fix" and therefore you should change, not saying it's drastic or anything but it is noticable

Yeah, no immediate change. Like Dobified said they become more docile but again, they are pups, nothing will stop them from being hyper. They usually calm down when they age which sorta blends in with that fact theres no hormones. Neutering shouldnt be done for personality change, its a health measure more importantly.

My expirance... they are definatly calm on the first night after the surgery!!!

More calm than normal on the second morning, and by the second evening, it's like nothing happened.
