My girls not eating.....!!!

Oh boy, my girl isn't eating much at all. Very, very little. She is one month pregnant, already gone through morning sickness but still is refusing to eat. I've taken her to the vet, she gave me FOUR different kinds of sample food to try- she won't eat any of it. I've tried iams puppy food, kibbles and bits, moist and meaty, puppy chow, some other stuff from the vet, plus three other samples of human grade chicken, lamb and beef food from the vet.

I can only get her to eat about 20 little pieces of moist and meaty; and a half a hard boiled egg and a tiny bit of pork tenderloin (omg, how spoiled...). She won't even eat cooked hamburger and rice. She stuck her nose up at a T bone steak bone- with meat on it....!!!!

I'm worried about her, any suggestions? (she is a chihuahua) I know these little ones can get real sick... Shes been drinking water and seems fine otherwise, but she needs to eat to feed herself and those puppies! What do I do??

How is her water intake? Perhaps you can ask your vet for supplementary vitamins that can be added to her water to ensure she doesn't loose too much. Even with non pregnant dogs the more things you try the less they seem to like.

I know Doglovin had similar issues last time. She may have more advice for you.

Is she still pooping? I would leave the food out...when she gets hungry enough, she'll eat. Maybe moisten the food with warm water so that it's like a mush. A lot of dogs think of that as a treat. You can also get some Nutri-Cal and give her some or put some in/on her food. It's packed with nutrients/calories for her. Has she not ate anything??? For how long? The other thing is like Dex said...the more you offer, the more choosy she can get...and she knows that.

Thank you for your responses. She has gone to the bathroom, but seems to strain a bit doing so. I have had her to the vet twice within this week to be sure she is okay. She is eating very very small amounts, but not of the right things.

Today, I got some canned food called a/b from the vet to try, and she ate a little bit of that. It is almost baby food consistancy. I also have to feed it to her ( the little stinker) on my finger. I am just concerned that she and the pups are getting what they need. I asked the vet about vitamin supplements, but she wants to try this first. I've never had so many different brands of dog food in cubard before....

So, guess I will stick with this for now...thank you for your help and input

Keep trying, she will eat when she is hungry. If you are feeding dry dog food try to get her on Nutros. It is a higher quality commercial food.

Ground beef is good to entice her. Mix it in with the food.

As long as the vet says she is ok, try not to worry. Or if you are still worried ( like I wouldn't be.... LOLOLOLOL!!!! ) then call anotehr vet for a second opinion. Never hurts to hear it from two vets. Right?
