KETOPROFEN was prescribed from his doctor, but I still cannot see any results from the treatment. The doctor is offering now to start Galantamine(Reminyl, Nivalin). If you know something about this type of drug, please share with me.I want your advices, please help me to make my dog happy.Thank you!

My dog is 10 years old (Dax) with similar problems. She is on Metacam for pain management.
Sorry to hear about your dog. Getting old sucks for them as much as us. Last edited by Dax; 07-02-2005 at 10:15 PM. |

HI Kiti, and welcome to the forum.
I do not know about the drug you described but I do know something that can help your dog. If you can find it, colostrum. You can usually find it at a country vet's office or a agricultural feed store. It is for givng to calves but has very beneifial results for dogs ( and people ) . What it is in case you aren't aware is a derivative of milk. Colostrum is what any animal first drinks when it is born and they need to drink it within the first few hours of life. It contains high nutrients and anti bodies for the immune system .It literally boosts the immune system in dogs and helps the body reconstruct. I have a friend whose dog has severe joint problems , stiffness and arthritis, she feed this on top of her dogs food and it has greatly improved her dogs arthritis, it eased pain and has helped with the over all health of the dog. You would feed a teaspoon on top of your dogs food once to twice a day. expect to see results in a week or two with gradual improvement over a month. Ask for Colostrum for calves when buying or looking for it. |

If the pain is suddenly much worse and the medication is suddenly no longer working maybe she should be checked for a new injury. She may have done something like pull a ligament in an arthritic joint in which case the newer injury, with rest, should heal. The arthritis, of course will always be there, Hope she starts to feel better soon.

Hey dobified, I'm .Silence. I just had to make that account when this one wasn't letting me on it, and then I went onto that one to check my msgs and saw this post. Well, my horse is 21 and next month will be 22. We ride about every sunny day we can find and on rainy days for about 30 minutes. We feed him NZ Coolade and NZ Horsehage, which (coolade) is a grain, oats, corn, bran type of mixture, and horsehage is just grass that ...sleepy. going to bed
