fish oil

Does anyone put fish oil in their dogs food, if so how does it work and how much would you give a 14 pound and a 35 pound dog.

Alot of foods contain fish oil already. As for how much to give im not exactly sure, ive never fed my dog other then the amount that already came in his food.

Yes I do. I give our dogs Cod liver oil for vit A and D and I alos give salmon oil for the omegas in it.

When giving fish oils be careful. Vitamin A accumulates and if given to much can harm your dog ( and yourself) so only feed fish oils once or twice a week and do it on how large your dog is. So say your dog is 80 pounds give a childs dose to him, I give one capsule once or twice a week. If you feed liver to your dog cut out the fish oils. Remember other fish oils other then Cod Liver contain Vit A as well so if giving one don't give the other till maybe a week later. Alternate and the dog will get the best of both.

I also feed sardine once or twice a week, they can be fed in conjunction with the fish oils.

Great choice for the health of your dog but also check how much is in the food you are feeding now.

I give Mara a Omega 3-6-9 capsule every day---she gobbles it up like a treat. It has fish oils, borage oil, and flax oil and someothers I can't think of right now. I think they make her coat very soft and her skin moist.
