I have an 11 month old half schnauzer/half min-pin. He chews everything. Is there anyway to break him of destroying thinks, and if not, will he outgrow it. We love him to death, but this is really getting old. Please help

What worked for me was "replacement". Whenever my dog started to chew on unacceptable things I gave him an "uh uh uh" noise, and then gave him one of his toys and praised him.
Of course you have to be with him for this to work. Does he chew when you are gone? Then confinement is probable the answer. |

Get him something 10 x more desireable than your stuff. ie kong, stuffed bone, etc. You can buy non staining apple bitter and treat some of his more favorite spots now. The rest is supervision - and consistency. By that nothing that looks like a shoe is an acceptable chew toy.
I am always amazed that I can leave my shoes right next to my 5.5month old rotti pup and she will not touch them. I have scarficed many shoes to my late german shepard, who went to great lengths first to steal then devour. |

If he isn't taught, he won't outgrow it necessarily. Use bitter apple or bitter end on the problem objects. Keep him crated while he's alone. A firm "no" and a replacement with a toy will teach him.
