HELP!!! my male shih tzu doesn't pay attention to female in heat

    hello,
it has been a week now that a friend of mine has brought her female shih tzu which is in her 12th day of the first cycle to be mated with my male 2 yrs old shih tzu but he does`t seem to want her.
both have done all the possible testings needed to be done and result ok but my male shih tzu keeps running from her and barking repeatedly to her. he has just smelled her from time to time and she has shown all the signs that she is ready but the male has not shown any signs of interest.
please help me because i don`t know what to do anymore. they are living together in my house from a week now but nothing is happening....

It is entirely possible one of two things have occured.
    * that the female is not ready yet and has a later ovulation
    * the female is past ovulation.

    How old is the female?

Yea I read the male is two years old, but would need to know the age of the female. Also- it would help if I knew how many heats the female has had thus far.

Maybe your dog isn't very socialized (from his ill behavior that was stated) and doesn't want anything to do with another dog, to breed with them or not?
If his personality is like that with other dogs or strangers overall, you shouldn't breed him to make more like him. It not just about "looks".
Also what exactly are the testing results for your dog and the bitch?

I personally don't think that dogs that WON'T breed, should be bred. Seperate them and neuter the male if he won't breed, he doesn't need to pass those genes on.

the female shih tzu is around 9 months old and i don't really know if she has passed the ovulation period but she is still in her cycle...
The male is two years old but he startet showing signs of desire for mating since he was 5 months old...he smells at her from time to time but except for that, nothing else. She keeps approaching him and chasing him around the house and smelling his organ but he keeps barking at her and running away...

She is way to young to be bred. She needs to be atleast 2 years old to even get proper health testing done. She is still a baby herself.

females should not be bred until they are at least 2 years old
